Artist, performer, writer, and filmmaker Miranda July has, over the past several decades, developed a body of work particularly attuned to the awkwardness, desire, loneliness, and acts of imagination that shape everyday life. In this Bluhm-Kaul Keynote address, July reflects on her bestselling novel All Fours (Riverhead, 2024) and its singular way of capturing how we navigate intimacy, technology, and social life. Like much of her work, the novel engages questions of desire and transformation, tracing how emotional and physical wanderings can open space for fantasy and continual self-reinvention.
