Staged in a high-alpine meadow, this film-performance marks the first outdoor presentation of Murderers Bar (2025), projected vertically on a monumental curved screen set among the aspens, against the dramatic backdrop of Pyramid Peak. Accompanied by a newly commissioned ensemble score by Deantoni Parks performed with musicians from Aspen Music Festival and School, Lucy Raven’s transportive use of aerial cinematography and underwater imaging techniques traces the surge of water to the Pacific following the detonation of a century-old dam along the Klamath River in Northern California, before returning upriver with its renewed flow, where Chinook and Coho salmon are once again free to run.
Murderers Bar will be presented outdoors at a ranch in the Maroon Bells. Guests are invited to attend a pre-performance reception at the venue, with complimentary shuttles departing from the Aspen Art Museum beginning at 5:45 PM. Please note that, per venue policy, self-parking and personal vehicle drop-offs are not permitted on site. All attendees should plan to arrive via the provided shuttle service.
Cocktail Reception will take place at 6:30pm with the performance starting at 8:30pm.
